Veterans Benefit Yard Sale Restarts Saturday September 6th

The 3 month hiatus is over and the restart of the popular Citrus County Veterans Coalition Benefit Yard Sale is open for business this Saturday and scheduled for the 1st Saturday of each month for the next nine months. The Yard Sale will be in a new location, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 550 U.S. 41 S. in Inverness and hours of operation are  from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. So come early, stay late with plenty of time for lunch on the grounds with food and drinks available, a play area for the children and rest room facilities will be open to the public. It is guaranteed to be the largest yard sale in Citrus County with plenty of vendors who have already reserved spaces. You might just find something you or your family can’t live without.

This is another “Veterans Helping Veterans” benefit with proceeds to benefit the Citrus County Veterans Coalition Food Bank and assisting needy veterans and their families. There will be collection boxes for non perishable food donations at the Coalition tent. Funds are also being set aside for the Veterans Re-Education Project so your participation and attendance at this monthly yard sale will definitely make a difference for those men and women who help make this country and the freedoms we enjoy a benefit we can’t overlook or take for granted.

Fifteen foot wide spaces are available on a first come first served basis for a donation of $10.00 per space. Veterans’ organizations will be half price and charitable organizations will be no charge. Spaces can be reserved by calling Richard Floyd at 726-5031. Spaces are limited so make your reservations early. There are still some spaces available so come early and become a part of this Citrus County Veterans Coalition monthly Yard Sale.

Veterans Benefit Yard Sale Restarts September 6th

The Citrus County Veterans Coalition will meet on Thursday, August 28th at 6 p.m. for the regular open business meeting at the Citrus County Resource Center next to the V.A. Clinic. All veterans’ organizations, honorably discharged veterans and current members of the Coalition are urged to attend.

Final plans are being made to restart the popular Veterans Benefit Yard Sale/Flea Market on the 1st Saturday of each month beginning with Saturday, September 6th 2008 . It will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. .  Fifteen foot wide spaces are available on a first come first served basis for a donation of $10.00 per space. Veterans’ organizations will be half price and charitable organizations will be no charge. Spaces can be reserved by calling Richard Floyd at 726-5031. Spaces will be limited so make your reservations early.

Plans are also coming together for the 2nd annual CCVC Veterans Forum to be held at the 1st Baptist Church of Inverness on Pleasant Grove Road on Saturday, November 15th, 2008 . A Free luncheon has been donated for the first 400 recipients of tickets to the Forum.  They will be distributed through interested Veterans Organizations and Coalition members so it would behoove these organizations to come to this meeting to get those tickets and help in the planning for the most informative Veterans’ Affairs gathering to ever hit Citrus County . Our speakers will share important information affecting all veterans and their families throughout the area. The church sanctuary will accommodate 850 people comfortably so even if you miss the luncheon plan to come to the forum. Put this date on your calendar of events so you don’t miss it.

The Citrus County Veterans Coalition has changed membership periods to a calendar year rather than a physical year so check your membership cards for expiration dates. Those that expire on March 31st can extend their membership to December 31st for just $7.00. Membership is $10.00 per year or $25 for three years. Life, Cooperate, and Associate memberships are available through John Ring at 746-0826. Membership applications are also available on the web at www.citruscountyveteranscoalition.org. or www.ccvcfl.org . Come to the meeting and join us on Thursday, August 28th.

CCVC Slates Open Business Meeting July 24

The Citrus County Veterans Coalition will conduct business as usual during the summer months getting ready for the fall activities and fund raising events that hopefully will get restarted in September and the Coalitions’ contribution to the Veterans Appreciation Week activities in November. The next open business meeting will be on Thursday, July 24th at the Citrus County Resource Center in the county V.A. Officer’s meeting room next to the V.A. Clinic.

Plans are to restart the monthly Yard Sale/Flea Market in September with the date and location still to be worked out. Our Food Bank continues to service close to 100 veterans and their families and that will be non stop during the summer months thanks to Bill and Nancy Geden who operate, pick up and deliver most of the food available. Thanks to the membership and donors who support this very important program.

Membership will be based on a calendar year as of January 1st, 2009 rather than expiration on March 31st of each year. Any member whose membership expires prior to December 31, 2008 can cover the gap period for $7.50 by contacting John Ring at 746-0826 for information. Current members should check their membership card for an expiration date and if it has expired contact John and he will get you back on the team. Annual membership is a $10.00 donation or you can donate $25.00 for a tax deductible 3 year membership. All honorably discharged veterans and veterans’ organizations are welcome to join this group of dedicated men and women who are working on the philosophy of Veterans Helping Veterans.

The next scheduled open business meeting for the Citrus County Veterans Coalition is scheduled for July 24th, 2008 . Open business meetings will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month except when that date conflicts with a holiday such as Thanksgiving and Christmas and those meetings will be rescheduled for an available time at the regular meeting room.
